“I first came into contact with Cristina Goia’s work on Salt Spring Island where she was living at the time. I was dumbfounded, there were several pieces on display at Ganges' The Waterfront Gallery... without a second's pause I bought my first my Goia masterpiece a single fine red rose in oils. Cristina paints with her heart in breathtaking detail, that magical place that not only grabs your attention but holds it. I still have no pause and have been in love with her work ever since.” - Henny

“I absolutely love your paintings and feel blessed to have them hanging where I see them everyday.” - Alda

“Really resonate with your studies of nature’s simple beauty” – Keiko

“Small paintings like jewels” – Roxana

"Oh Cristina - it's so beautiful, you are amazingly talented and I feel so fortunate to enjoy your art. Thank you for making the world a little more beautiful." - Kimberly

Welcome, my name is Cristina Goia, I am a visual artist based in Toronto ON, inspired by nature in close proximity, the garden outside the door. Why? Because it is the nature we build a relationship with, daily.

I came to art later in life… Like many young women living in the city, I was working in an office, on a computer, building a career, feeling smart and powerful. After a while however, life started feeling dry and meaningless... This prompted some soul searching, a return to art, travelling, and a return to nature.

I started painting on an island in BC, debatably as close as possible to paradise on earth. This is not an exaggeration, people in the gulf islands, live in gardens surrounded by forest. “Enclosed garden” is the original meaning of the ancient Greek word “paradeisos”. Everyone who visits, seems to recognize it instantly, I had to google it.

My art is a lens focused on how it feels, reclaiming that feeling of simple yet luxurious nature. I paint by natural light, from life, not photos, watching flowers bloom before my eyes, chasing light, gesture and natural structure, long enough to feel the complete harmony of nature in one flower.

I paint in oils, in a style that took old masters centuries of experimentation, and took me years of practice, much like a musician at her instrument. I enjoy many styles in art, but this one honors the culture I come from, and the values I live by: balance, harmony, natural proportion and rhythm.

Through my art, I hope to inspire you to celebrate your love, your connection to our natural world. Whether the climate is changing or not, re-connecting to nature and appreciating what we have right here right now is most important. It shifts our emotions, opening doors to creativity, fostering further change.
