Cristina Goia is a visual artist based in Toronto, Ontario. Raised in Romania, and inspired by her years in the BC gulf islands, her work reflects diverse landscapes, celebrating the gifts of the earth. Her paintings hang in private collections in Canada and US, and were distinguished as “Best Work on Canvas or Board” in the Sidney Fine Art Show, finalist in the Art Renewal Center International Salon, honorable mention in the Countryside show at Light, Space & Time Gallery. She has studied drawing at the Academy of Realist Art in Toronto, and painting in BC and US, with a few masters of contemporary realism. She continues to receive guidance from her master teacher, the natural world.
"I value natural harmony and balance in my painting practice and beyond.
I paint by natural light, from life, not photographs. With flowers blooming before my eyes, while painting light, gesture and natural structure, I sense the profound, unsurpassed intelligence in our first teacher: nature. My style is rooted in classical tradition, aiming for an elegant, timeless expression of a world timeless itself.
I hope to share this experience with you, and together, to continue cultivating the human mind, much like a garden. The hope that by dwelling on the good and the beautiful, we become and we create accordingly."
